Jardim do Mar

Jardim do Mar is located on the seafront. In "O Portinho" on the waterfront, you can listen to the waves. In the center you can not miss "Joes Bar", where artists, fishermen and visitors meet in the cozy courtyard. Here, people like to philosophize about football, art, fishing and life. A levada hike leads via Prazeres to Jardim do Mar.

Toboggan Rides - Monte

Experience one of Madeira’s most iconic traditions with a ride on the Monte Toboggan! This thrilling attraction dates back to the 1850s and offers a truly unique way to zip downhill from Monte to Livramento.

You’ll hop into a traditional wicker sled, expertly guided by two Carreiros. Dressed in their classic white uniforms and straw hats, these skilled drivers use their rubber-soled boots as "brakes" to navigate the winding streets.

Ponta de São Lourenço

For a truly unforgettable experience, a trip to Ponta de São Lourenço is an absolute must. As the easternmost tip of Madeira, this dramatic volcanic peninsula stretches nine kilometers into the Atlantic, offering a landscape unlike anywhere else on the island.

While much of Madeira is famous for its lush, emerald forests, Ponta de São Lourenço provides a striking, rugged contrast.

Ribeira Brava

Nestled on the sunny south coast of Madeira, Ribeira Brava (meaning "Wild River") is a charming seaside town that perfectly blends local tradition with a relaxed holiday vibe. Named after the powerful river that flows through its center, it serves as a gateway between the island’s sunny south and the rugged north.

With its sheltered pebble beach and calm atmosphere, Ribeira Brava is the perfect spot for those looking to experience the authentic heart of Madeira away from the busier city center of Funchal.

Paul do Mar Promenade

If you’re looking for the ultimate sunset spot on Madeira, the Paul do Mar Promenade is where you want to be. Stretching along the edge of this traditional fishing village on the island’s sunny southwest coast, the promenade is a favorite for locals, surfers, and travelers seeking a more laid-back, authentic vibe.

Tucked at the foot of towering, dramatic cliffs, this long, flat walkway is perfect for a leisurely stroll while the salt spray from the Atlantic refreshes your skin.

Porto Moniz Natural Pools

Step into a world where volcanic fire meets the cooling Atlantic at the Porto Moniz Natural Pools. Located on the rugged northwestern tip of Madeira, these world-famous swimming pools are formed by ancient volcanic lava that cooled into unique, salt-water basins.

Unlike a standard swimming pool, these are constantly replenished by the crystal-clear tides of the ocean, offering a safe and serene place to swim even when the Atlantic waves are crashing against the outer rocks.

Ponta do Sol

Widely considered the sunniest spot on the island, Ponta do Sol (the "Sun Point") is a picturesque village that lives up to its name. Tucked away on Madeira’s south coast, this charming destination is cradled between towering sea cliffs and the sparkling Atlantic, offering a perfect blend of historic architecture and a vibrant, modern atmosphere.

With its colorful townhouses, pebble beach, and iconic arched bridge, Ponta do Sol feels like a hidden Mediterranean gem.

Pico do Arieiro

Standing at 1,818 meters above sea level, Pico do Arieiro is Madeira’s third-highest peak and arguably its most breathtaking. This is the place where you can literally walk above the clouds, surrounded by jagged volcanic peaks and vast, open horizons that stretch all the way to the neighboring island of Porto Santo on a clear day.

The best part? Unlike many high-altitude summits, Pico do Arieiro is easily accessible by car, making its "top of the world" views available to everyone.

Santana

Step into a living postcard in Santana, a charming municipality on the rugged north coast of Madeira that serves as a beautiful tribute to the island’s traditional way of life. Santana is world-famous for its iconic "Casas de Santana"—small, triangular houses topped with thick, sloping thatched roofs that reach all the way to the ground.

These colorful structures, painted in bright white, red, and blue, have become the unofficial symbol of Madeira and are a "must-see" for any visitor.

Câmara de Lobos

Just a few minutes west of Funchal lies Câmara de Lobos, perhaps the most picturesque and authentic fishing village in Madeira. Its name, which translates to "Chamber of the Wolves," refers to the Mediterranean monk seals (often called sea wolves) that explorers first discovered in the bay centuries ago.

With its colorful fleet of traditional fishing boats (known as Xavelhas) bobbing in the harbor and the scent of salt and grilled fish in the air, it’s no wonder this village famously captured the heart of Sir Winston Churchill, who spent his holidays here painting the landscape.
